Happy T-Day to y'all. There are innumerable things to be thankful for on this All American holiday, so I hope you give pause and try to count those blessings as we grin and bear it another day in this weird world o' ours. The holiday season is indeed upon us, ready or not.
It's also the end of another year...but it ain't over until it's over. Tis the season to be redundant.
Hey, speaking of this here turkey day, have you ever noticed there's only one Thanksgiving movie worth a damn? That would be John Hughes' Planes, Trains and Automobiles starring Steve Martin and the incredible John Candy, whose work with Hughes in this and Uncle Buck was the best in his short career. For a twenty year old movie, PTA still holds up quite well, extremely funny and actually quite touching.
Hughes really deserves an incredible amount of respect for the quantity and quality of the films he concocted in a very small window of time in the 1980s, not to mention how influential his work has been as a screenwriter and as a director. From Mr. Mom to National Lampoon's Vacation, Sixteen Candles to The Breakfast Club, PTA to Home Alone, Hughes was king of the world way before James Cameron. Now who holds the title...Brett Ratner? Michael Bay? Shawn Levy? Does someone have a razor blade?
Finally, a sad note: famed TV commercial icon Mr. Whipple has passed away. For those attending the funeral, may I remind all you mourners: Please don't squeeze the coffin.

have not really had time to talk/type since July.
Would like your thoughts regarding a new TV show I recently found called "Conner Gas". very refreshing, no laugh track, reminds me of "Northern Exposure" only taking place nowhere in the middle of nowhere USA.
